The response should be a complete paragraph including a topic and concluding sentence. The response is due each week by Thursday morning at the beginning of class. It can be turned in using the online submission below, or it can be hand written. Prompt 1 : If your book was nonfiction, what is the main idea of the text? How do you know? (Remember to use evidence from the text.) Prompt 2: If your book was fiction, what is the main message? How do you know? (Remember to use evidence from the text.) |
Units of Study
ELAWe are going to begin the year with the unit: Off to New Adventures. In this unit, students will be reading about different communities around the world and how students in those communities access reading and learning. Students will be introduced to CLOSE reading, learning to read a text closely multiple times to further enhance comprehension. Students will begin to develop their abilities to support their answers with evidence from a text.
Social Studies |
MathStudents are now beginning to work on multiplication. The big push in this unit is to help students understand what multiplication is. This means we will be focusing on the modeling of multiplication using equal groups, repeated addition, tape diagrams and arrays. Although it is great if the students want to work on memorization at home, that is not the focus of this unit.
