ELA: This week, we will be reading and learning about poetry. Students will be using their academic vocabulary to discuss poems and figure out the theme of poems.
Math: This week, students will be continuing to compare fractions. The beginning of the week will focus on comparing fractions with the same numerators. The focus is understanding that the size of the pieces decrease as the denominator increases. (3.NF.3) The end of the week will include a review of all the concepts learned about throughout the unit. This includes: identifying fractions, understanding unit fractions, identifying fractions on a number line, making equivalent fractions, and comparing fractions. The Unit Test will be on Tuesday, April 25th.
Writing: This week, we will be continuing our unit on narrative writing. This week we are beginning to dig into narrative writing. This week will be a lot of guided writing and working with graphic organizers to help give students tools and structure to guide their writing. (3.W.3)
Language: This week we will continue working on punctuating dialogue (3.L.2c)
Civic Learning: We will continue deployment for the civic learning project. Students are working on organizing a community clean up, writing letters to the editor, creating a public service announcement, or creating posters to get their message across.
